What digital formats are available for OverDrive titles?
When you buy a title in Marketplace, you get all the formats listed for that title. You can see a title's formats under the cover image.
Most titles in the OverDrive catalog are available in multiple formats and have wide compatibility, but each individual format (OverDrive Read, EPUB, etc.) is compatible with different apps and devices.

Formats in Libby and Sora
These formats can be browsed, borrowed, and opened in Libby and Sora:
- OverDrive Read
- OverDrive Listen
- OverDrive Magazines
- Media Do Reader
Note: Media Do Reader ebooks open in the web browser, not in the app's built-in reader.
Most titles in the OverDrive catalog are available in one of these formats.
Users can also download or access the following formats, as long as the title is also available in the OverDrive Read format:
- Kindle Book (U.S. only)
- EPUB (Adobe and Open; not available in Sora)

Many popular ereaders are compatible with OverDrive ebooks, including:

Formats on OverDrive websites and in the OverDrive app
After borrowing titles from your OverDrive website or in the legacy OverDrive app (where available), users need to select the format they want to open or download. The table below shows compatibility information for each format.
