Why couldn't OverDrive process my Local Content files?
If we weren't able to process one or more formats for your Local Content title, you may see an error message on the title's details page in Marketplace that says something like this:
We were not able to process the Adobe PDF ebook version of this title.
Choose Edit to upload a revised file.
Even if you don't see this error message, if your Local Content title says "Ready for lending" when you click one of its listed formats in Marketplace, but it isn't appearing in your digital collection, there may be an issue with the source file you submitted.
To correct this issue, try the tips below when resubmitting your ebook or audio file.
Most problems will be fixed with these steps:
- Make sure your ebook file is 100 MB or less.
- If you originally uploaded an EPUB ebook as "Open EPUB," try uploading it as "Adobe EPUB" instead.
If your file still won't process, try these steps:
- Re-export your EPUB ebook from your EPUB creation software before uploading. Sometimes a fresh export will resolve errors that occurred because of a corrupted original file. If this doesn't work (or you're not uploading an EPUB), continue to step 2.
- Verify that your EPUB or PDF ebook opens in Adobe Digital Editions. While it's not a guarantee, ebooks that work in Adobe Digital Editions are likely to be accepted during our ingestion process (as long as they meet our file size requirement). If your EPUB ebook doesn't open in Adobe Digital Editions, continue to step 3.
- Validate your EPUB file before uploading using an EPUB validator (here are some apps that the World Wide Web Consortium suggests) to pinpoint potential errors in your file. See this article for tips to troubleshoot validation errors.
- Make sure your upload follows our submission guidelines for audio files.
- Upload your audiobook folder to the "Audio" folder on your FTP site. If you don't see a folder named "Audio," create one.
- Before resubmitting your file, verify that it opens in Windows Media Player.
If none of these tips resolve your issue, please contact your Account Manager (whose contact information is listed under the Marketplace Support tab) for more help.
