Permission required: Smart List

Smart Lists automatically build carts for your review based on criteria you specify, including price, on-sale date, most desired genres and subjects, popular authors and series, press attention, languages, and more. Smart Lists can also be set up to manage repurchasing Metered Access content, so in-demand titles never expire from your collection. You can create as many Smart Lists as you like.

We encourage you to contact your Account Manager for personal assistance in setting up Smart Lists.

How to create a Smart List

  1. Click Automate Carts from the Shop drop-down menu.
  2. Click Smart Lists.
  3. Click Add Smart List.
  4. Fill out the required questions to create a Smart List (see the "Smart List tips" section below for recommendations and to preview the questions). When you're ready, select Save to save your Smart List.
  5. You'll be taken to a confirmation page where you can review the terms of your Smart List. If these are all correct, select Save this plan.

How to run a Smart List

When you create a Smart List, you'll specify how often you want it to run. Your Smart List will build carts automatically based on this schedule. Each time the Smart List runs, you'll be notified by email.

Once a cart is built from a Smart List, you can review its contents and remove titles as needed before purchasing. Unlike Holds Manager and RTL Manager, Smart Lists will never automatically place an order on your behalf.

At any time, you can also select a Smart List you've created from the Smart Lists home page and click Run now to have that list create a cart for you to review within five minutes.
